The Pioneer Panthers had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 65-48 victory over Cleveland Hill on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Pioneer, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Cameron D'Hilly and Jaiden Meredith certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. D'Hilly scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks, while Meredith scored 18 points. The game was D'Hilly's fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Pioneer's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Cleveland Hill, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pioneer will be home for the holidays to greet Depew at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Cleveland Hill will be home for the holidays to greet Griffith Institute at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
