Churchill has been on the road for two straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Richard Montgomery Rockets at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Churchill gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 32-30 win over Walter Johnson.
It was another big night for David Avit, who rushed for 248 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry, and also picked up 56 receiving yards. Avit really tore up the turf during one magnificent 81-yard run.
Meanwhile, Richard Montgomery's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell 48-37 to Gaithersburg.
The losing side was boosted by Anthony Dixon jr, who threw for 354 yards and four touchdowns. Dixon jr is on a roll when it comes to passing yards, as he's now passed for 300 or more in the last four games he's played. Teshaun Ryals-wilson was another key contributor, picking up 123 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Churchill's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.2 points per game. As for Richard Montgomery, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
