The Twin Rivers Royals will challenge the Oak Ridge Blue Jays at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Twin Rivers is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Twin Rivers is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Malden 26-9 on Tuesday. Fans of the Royals have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Reese Crismon was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. Crismon was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-6 with six RBI, four runs, and three doubles.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ivy Benson, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Reagan Bader was another key player, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Twin Rivers kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 25 hits. They got 14 more hits than Malden's also-impressive total of 11.
Meanwhile, Oak Ridge didn't have quite enough to beat Century on Wednesday and fell 9-7. The loss put an end to the Blue Jays' undefeated start to the season.
Like Twin Rivers, Oak Ridge also got a great game from a two-way player: Kinsley Bogenpohl. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Bogenpohl was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Bogenpohl wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kaelyn Deckerd, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Deckerd is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least two every time she's taken the field this season. Another was Madyson Ruehling, who scored a run while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
Having lost for the first time this season, Oak Ridge fell to 2-1. As for Twin Rivers, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
Oak Ridge's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Twin Rivers hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .500. It's a different story for Oak Ridge, though, as they've only averaged .253. Will they be able to contain Twin Rivers' hitters?
Everything went Twin Rivers' way against Oak Ridge in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Twin Rivers made off with a 23-2 win. Does Twin Rivers have another victory up their sleeve, or will Oak Ridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
