The Douglass Red Devils put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Memphis Business Academy 85-58 at home. Douglass has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 contests by 20 points or more this season.
Douglass' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jarmon Brittman led the charge by scoring 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brittman has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Taquez Butler, who scored 19 points.
When it comes to explaining why Memphis Business Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Teryck White. Despite the final result, he scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Jay'lon Hopson, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Douglass' win was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-0. As for Memphis Business Academy, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Douglass will challenge Trezevant at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Trezevant will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 277th, while Douglass is ranked 18th). Memphis Business Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face KIPP Collegiate at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th.
