If Central Christian wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Open Door Christian, they should've done a better job of containing Sammy Comer. The Patriots won by a set and slipped past the Comets 3-2 for which the team can thank Comer, who had 36 digs and three assists. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last five games she's played.
If you add up the scores from across all five sets (103-100) Open Door Christian actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-21, 16-25, 25-21, 15-11.
Meanwhile, Monroeville had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Jackson-Milton on Thursday.
Monroeville not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Jackson-Milton between 15 and 16 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-16, 25-16.
Open Door Christian better keep an eye on Addison Homan. She was instrumental in Monroeville's win, getting 31 digs and four assists.
Open Door Christian's record now sits at 22-4. As for Monroeville, their record is now 23-2.
