The Phoenix Day School for the Deaf Roadrunners's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They took a hard 33-19 fall against Cicero Prep Academy. Phoenix Day School for the Deaf has not had much luck with Cicero Prep Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Phoenix Day School for the Deaf's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Pearl Williams, who scored five points along with ten rebounds, and Valentina Gutierrez who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Cicero Prep Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maggie Hooppaw, who scored 13 points along with six assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hooppaw has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyse Nap, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Phoenix Day School for the Deaf bumped their record down to 2-12 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Cicero Prep Academy, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-9.
Phoenix Day School for the Deaf's road trip will continue as they head out to face Washington School for the Deaf at 11:00 a.m. on January 18th. Cicero Prep Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Phoenix Country Day at 5:30 p.m. on January 17th. One thing working in Phoenix Country Day's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
