If the Longmont Trojans were riding high off their 51-26 takedown of the Northglenn Norsemen last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Longmont was the victim of a tough 56-34 defeat at the hands of Holy Family on Wednesday. Longmont has struggled against Holy Family recently, as their match on Wednesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Savannah Pohl and Stella Rulon certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Pohl scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Rulon scored seven points along with six rebounds. Pohl hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Holy Family to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alexcia Oaxaca, who scored nine points. Jennifer Altshuler was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Longmont's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Holy Family, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Longmont on the road again on Friday and play against Greeley West at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th. Greeley West will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 224th, while Longmont is ranked 94th). As for Holy Family, they will head out on the road to face off against Mead at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Mead is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
