The Palo Duro Dons will head out on the road to face off against the Wylie Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Palo Duro will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 475th, while Wylie is ranked 188th).
Last Friday, Palo Duro had to suffer through a rough 49-20 loss at the hands of Rider. Palo Duro was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-14.
Despite the loss, Palo Duro got a solid performance out of Darien Lewis, who threw for 157 yards and two touchdowns. Lewis was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards.
Meanwhile, Wylie really took it to Lubbock for the full four quarters, racking up a 52-7 win on the road. With Wylie ahead 42-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
This is the second loss in a row for Palo Duro and nudges their season record down to 3-4. As for Wylie, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Palo Duro couldn't quite finish off Wylie in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 and fell 27-24. Can Palo Duro avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
