The St. Pius X Panthers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 38-28 to Antonian Prep. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for St. Pius X in their matchups with Antonian Prep: they've now lost five in a row.
St. Pius X's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Alex Yearwood, who picked up 92 receiving yards and a touchdown.
St. Pius X's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 4-4. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.2 points per game. As for Antonian Prep, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Pius X is on the road again on Friday and play against St. Thomas Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. One thing working in St. Thomas Catholic's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three games. As for Antonian Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against Concordia Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Concordia Lutheran will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 605th, while Antonian Prep is ranked 261st).
