Two dominant players in Joe Sterling and Jared Mims are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Crespi Celts will head out on the road to challenge the Alemany Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Crespi pushed their score all the way to 61 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Notre Dame (SO) by a score of 64-61. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Crespi in their matchups with Notre Dame (SO): they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the defeat, Crespi saw an underclassman step up: Sterling scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Isaiah Barnes was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Meanwhile, Alemany pushed their score all the way to 55 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 67-55 to Sierra Canyon. Alemany's loss continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Crespi's defeat dropped their record down to 20-6. As for Alemany, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.
Crespi beat Alemany 60-49 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Crespi since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
