The Fairview Yellowjackets will take on the Franklin Admirals at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Fairview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Fairview proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by eight) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Harpeth 11-10. Winning may never get old, but the Yellowjackets sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Maddie McGowan made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up four earned (and six unearned) runs off ten hits. McGowan was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Fairview let Cameryn Dunn and Abbie Hammon run wild. Dunn scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Hammon went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits Dunn has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Penning, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Fairview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harpeth only posted an OBP of .294.
Meanwhile, Franklin had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over Centennial on Tuesday.
Olivia Melinchar was a standout: she scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Morgan Bennett was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Fairview's win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Franklin, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 3-17-1.
Franklin's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fairview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .372. It's a different story for Franklin, though, as they've only averaged .258. Will they be able to contain Fairview's hitters?
Fairview might still be hurting after the 16-1 defeat they got from Franklin when the teams last played back in March of 2018. Will the Yellowjackets have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
