On Thursday, Torrey Pines strolled past O'Dea with points to spare, taking the game 71-55. The victory was just what Torrey Pines needed coming off of a 72-45 loss in their prior matchup.
Torrey Pines' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Matin Madadkar led the charge by scoring 29 points along with seven rebounds. Those 29 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Cody Shen, who scored 21 points.
Meanwhile, St. Edward escaped with a win on Thursday against St. Francis Episcopal by the margin of a single free throw, 60-59.
Torrey Pines' win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for St. Edward, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
Torrey Pines was dealt a bruising 73-44 defeat at the hands of St. Edward in their previous matchup back in December of 2016. Can Torrey Pines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
