The La Costa Canyon Mavericks will venture away from home to face off against the Poway Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. La Costa Canyon is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.
On Wednesday, La Costa Canyon got the win against Mt. Carmel by a conclusive 3-0.
One reason for the win was La Costa Canyon's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-19, 25-18.

La Costa Canyon can attribute much of their success to Presley Thompson, who had nine digs and two aces, and Olivia Lee, who had ten assists and four digs. Thompson has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last four times she's played.
They weren't the only good servers: La Costa Canyon was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in ten consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Poway didn't have quite enough to beat Mt. Carmel on Friday and fell 3-2.
Poway took Mt. Carmel into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking ten-point loss. The final score came out to 24-26, 25-16, 23-25, 25-22, 15-5.
La Costa Canyon will have to contain Abby Kroepel as she made an impact in Poway's last game. She had 23 digs and four aces. Mia Richardson also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.
Poway's defeat dropped their record down to 12-18. As for La Costa Canyon, their victory bumped their record up to 23-11.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's match: La Costa Canyon has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Poway struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
La Costa Canyon beat Poway 3-1 in their previous meeting on October 3rd. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mavericks since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
