Kendra Lee spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Baylie Howard, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Nina Rios-Cruz, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
University hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but DeLand ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Taylor 10-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted against the Wildcats since March 2, 2020.
Mimi Cabrera was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
University is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for DeLand, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
University took their win against DeLand in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 15-0 score. Will the Titans repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
