Cathedral Prep has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge The Farrell Steelers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Cathedral Prep took their game at home with ease, bagging a 38-8 victory over Erie. Cathedral Prep pushed the score to 38-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Erie cut but never quite recovered from.
Cathedral Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dajoure Hollingsworth, who rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, and also picked up 64 receiving yards. Hollingsworth's longest rush was for an incredible 79 yards. Luke Costello was another key contributor, rushing for 63 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Farrell put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Slippery Rock, posting a 49-0 win on the road. Given Farrell's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 50th, while Slippery Rock is ranked 424th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Farrell's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kabron Smith, who threw for 127 yards and two touchdowns while completing 91.7% of his passes, and Juelz Johnson, who rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Danny Odem iii also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Cathedral Prep's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-3. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33 points. As for Farrell, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Cathedral Prep has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 283.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Farrell struggles in that department as they've been averaging 156.3 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
