Triad is a perfect 8-0 against Breese Central since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Triad will head out to face off against Breese Central at 4:30 p.m. One thing working in Triad's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
On Saturday, Triad got the win against Belleville West by a conclusive 17-10. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Maroons: they've now won four in a row.
The team relied heavily on Lil Lintz, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she hit this season. Syd Horn was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances.
Triad always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .580. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .524 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Breese Central was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They fell 5-2 to Red Bud. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Musketeers: they've now lost three in a row.
Taylor Trame made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run.
Triad pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Breese Central, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Breese Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Triad hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .423. It's a different story for Breese Central, though, as they've only averaged .255. Will they be able to contain Triad's hitters?
Triad took their win against Breese Central in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Triad since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
