Softball Game Preview: Desert Sunrise Golden Hawks vs. Coronado Dons

For the second straight game, Desert Sunrise will face off against Coronado. The Golden Hawks will square off against the Dons at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Desert Sunrise is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Desert Sunrise's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Coronado as they made off with a 28-0 win. The Golden Hawks' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Destiny Begay made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Begay was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with six stolen bases and three runs. Those six stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Atiana Fuller, who fired off two home runs, four stolen bases, and six RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinn Nelson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with seven stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Desert Sunrise always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .892. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Desert Sunrise's record is now 3-12. As for Coronado, they are on a 28-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.
