Elk Rapids took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Inland Lakes Bulldogs a 15-0 shutout. The win was familiar territory for the Elks, who have now won five matches in a row dating back to last season.
Rhielynn Skrocki made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Skrocki was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Brooke Fluty was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Haleigh Yocom, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Elk Rapids kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive contests dating back to last season.
