Softball Recap: Ithaca's Winning Streak Snapped at Ten Games

Ithaca dropped their record down to 13-5 on Saturday, which also ended the team's ten-game streak of wins. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Richland Center Hornets. The match marked the first time this year in which the Bulldogs were not able to get on the board.

As for Richland Center, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

For Richland Center's part, Ithaca's batters probably weren't too happy with Kyree Fischer, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 16 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Fischer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Richland Center saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carley Mieden, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI. Ella Clements also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Looking ahead, Ithaca will take on Seneca at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Richland Center, they will head out on the road to square off against Prairie du Chien at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
