After a string of three wins, the Norland Vikings's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Pembroke Pines Charter by a score of 66-63. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Thursday (60), Norland still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Norland still got an impressive performance from Marcus Allen, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendrick Preston, who scored 11 points.
Pembroke Pines Charter had a senior duo take command as Ramez Zayed dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds and Jeremy Elyzee scored 20 points along with two steals and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Zayed has scored all season. Solomon Hughes was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Norland's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Pembroke Pines Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.
Norland on the road again on Monday and play against Sagemont at 7:00 p.m. on January 15th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Sagemont is ranked 12th, while Norland is ranked 26th). As for Pembroke Pines Charter, they will face off against Calvary Christian Academy at 6:40 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Calvary Christian Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 games.
