The Craigmont Chiefs pushed their score all the way to 69 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 78-69 hit to the loss column at the hands of Brighton. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (56), Craigmont still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Craigmont lost, one person who can't be blamed is Christopher Taylor. Despite the final result, he scored 33 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Taylor has scored all season. Tashun Lewis was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Craigmont's defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-15. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points per game. As for Brighton, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-15.
Craigmont won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. Covington is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Brighton, they will head out on the road to take on the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Millington Central's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matches.
