Basketball Game Preview: Gunnison Valley Bulldogs vs. North Sevier Wolves

Gunnison Valley hasn't had much luck against North Sevier recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The two teams will meet in a canine-themed contest at 7:00 p.m. North Sevier took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Gunnison Valley, who comes in off a win.

Gunnison Valley will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating San Juan, who they had gone 1-7 against in their eight prior meetings. Gunnison Valley put the hurt on San Juan with a sharp 54-31 victory on Saturday. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 20 points or more this season.

Gunnison Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Autumn Anderson, who went 5 for 8 on her way to 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. Anderson has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Linsi Hansen, who posted 11 points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, North Sevier played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against South Sevier, falling 64-43. The Wolves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-20.

North Sevier has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Gunnison Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.

Gunnison Valley came up short against North Sevier in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 45-35. Can Gunnison Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
