On Tuesday, the Pittsfield Generals faced the Central Golden Eagles in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Pittsfield received a tough blow as they fell 52-38 to Central.
Several Generals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madison Stetz, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Kyana Summers, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Leading Central to victory were Jai-lyn Garvin-martin and Angela Hector. Garvin-martin scored 21 points along with five steals, while Hector dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Garvin-martin has scored at least 25% of Central's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Angalece Quinones, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Pittsfield's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Central, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pittsfield will square off against Westfield at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Central is on the road again on Friday and play against Chicopee at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th.
