The Pioneer Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the West Park Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pioneer knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully West Park likes a good challenge.
Pioneer pushed their score all the way to 65 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 77-65 to Yuba City. Pioneer found out winning isn't easy when you make six fewer threes than your opponent.
Erik Hoyt put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 18 points. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for him. Frank Goodenough was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, West Park didn't have too much trouble with Rio Americano on the road on Saturday as they won 58-42.
Pioneer's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for West Park, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.
Pioneer ended up a good deal behind West Park in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, losing 69-51. Can Pioneer avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
