The Canterbury Cougars''s five-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They strolled past Aubrey Rogers with points to spare, taking the game 32-14. The win was just what Canterbury needed coming off of a 52-0 loss in their prior match.
Canterbury was led to victory by Griffin Curran and Brenden Daller. Curran rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown, while Daller rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Collin Meagher made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Caden Diloreto and Jack Trittler, Aubrey Rogers certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Diloreto threw for 177 yards and two touchdowns, while Trittler picked up 65 receiving yards and a touchdown. Trittler was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 65 yards.
Canterbury's win bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Aubrey Rogers, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-7.
Canterbury will be playing in front of their home fans against Santa Fe Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Santa Fe Catholic is ranked 530th, while Canterbury is ranked 521st). As for Aubrey Rogers, they will head out on the road to face off against East Lee County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
