The Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans entered their tilt with the Sand Creek Scorpions with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Fountain-Fort Carson simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Sand Creek 66-37 at home. Given Fountain-Fort Carson's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while Sand Creek is ranked 280th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fountain-Fort Carson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyshawn Miller out in front who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tre'sean Washington, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Several Scorpions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elijah Brotherns, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Brotherns is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Matthew Starks, who scored eight points.
Fountain-Fort Carson pushed their record up to 3-1 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Sand Creek, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fountain-Fort Carson will stay at home for another game and welcome Sierra at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th. Sand Creek will take on Pueblo West at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pueblo West is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
