Hoggard has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The New Hanover Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Hoggard never let their opponents score. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat South Brunswick 56-0 on the road. Given Hoggard's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 12th, while South Brunswick is ranked 241st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hoggard had a senior duo take command as Hudson Wilharm threw for 250 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes and M?kel Bellamy rushed for 63 yards and three touchdowns. Blake Edwards was another key contributor, picking up 94 receiving yards and a touchdown.
New Hanover never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against West Brunswick last Friday. They blew past the Trojans, posting a 42-6 victory at home. With New Hanover ahead 34-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.
New Hanover had a senior duo take command as Caden Morton rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries and Caleb Robles threw for 153 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Shand, who rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown.
Hoggard's win was their eighth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.6 points per game. As for New Hanover, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Hoggard couldn't quite finish off New Hanover in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 and fell 10-7. Will Hoggard have more luck at home instead of on the road?
