Independence added to the longest winning streak in AAA District 11 this week by beating Overton, 17-14. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Independence and the Bobcats played the most contested game in the league this week, with Independence eventually emerging with a 17-14 victory. Vic Wharton III ran for 89 yards and caught 1 pass for 10 yards during the win.
Scott Blade's team's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Andrew Bunch threw for 131 yards and Deion Sims had 26 yards receiving. On the ground Wharton III contributed 89 yards. Daniel Wright helped Independence's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 25 yards.

Independence's Wharton III is a few successful plays short of surpassing 1,000 yards receiving this season. He needs only 83 receiving yards against Hendersonville to hit that benchmark. So far this year, he has garnered 51 catches for 917 yards.
Ravenwood lost to Blackman 47-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
