A District 6 recap November 5, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in A District 6 this week, Talihina beat Savanna 43-6. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
Talihina made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,609 from 7,460. The improvement was the result of a 43-6 victory over the Bulldogs last week.
Wade Shanks threw for 140 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Kirby Needham was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 157 yards on 20 carries as Quinton bested Canadian. Jake Lemons also contributed to the rushing game with 29 yards on the ground.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when Gore's Peyton O'Neal goes up against Kelly Gravitt's team's Alan Lockhart.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when the Golden Tigers and the Pirates face off next week. Lockhart has thrown for 916 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Chris Jarvis has plagued opposing QBs to the tune of 8.0 sacks.
An important game coming up in A District 6 this week will be when Central takes on Savanna. The Tigers are in third place, while James Bond's team is in second place.
There should be lots of points scored when Gore and Talihina face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Craig Bivins' team comes in having scored 149 this season, while the Golden Tigers have scored 379. The Pirates scored 56 points last week as they defeated Haileyville.
Gore led the league in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on the Warriors. Shanks ran for 30 yards during the win.
