Basketball Recap: Bellevue East Picks Up Fifth Straight Win on the Road

Bellevue East won the last time they faced Buena Vista and things went their way on Tuesday too. Everything went the Bellevue East Chieftains' way against the Buena Vista Bison as the Bellevue East Chieftains made off with a 67-44 win. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-19.

Bellevue East's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mya Weber, who posted ten points in addition to eight boards and three steals. That's the most steals Weber has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Tniyah Wilson-Smith, who scored eight points and nine rebounds.

Bellevue East smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Buena Vista's loss came despite strong showings from Destiny Barney and Da'Shia Evans. Barney had 11 points, while Evans put up five points and four steals. Evans has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Imani Gilreath also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Bellevue East's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.6 points per game. As for Buena Vista, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season.

Bellevue East has already played their next match (against Lincoln East), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Buena Vista will head out to take on Westview at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Westview has seven straight victories, Buena Vista has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
