For the first time this season, Woodford County will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will face off against the Collins Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Woodford County 3.9, Collins 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Woodford County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Hancock County on Thursday. The Yellowjackets not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 27, 2024.

Sawyer Moffett tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Justus Wertzler was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Jacson Irvin also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.
Woodford County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Collins was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Lakeway Christian Academy. That's two games in a row now that the Titans have lost by just one run.
Alston Whitworth was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Collins' loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Woodford County, their record now sits at 9-5.
Everything went Woodford County's way against Collins in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Woodford County made off with a 10-0 win. Do the Yellowjackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Titans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
