The Lewis Falcons will head out on the road to face off against SEED at 11:59 a.m. on Saturday. Lewis is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
With a playoff game on the line, Lewis rose to the challenge on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 32-18 win over Surrattsville. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Lewis' 12-point performance the game before.
Lewis can attribute much of their success to Sharrod Mattox, who gained 146 total yards and two touchdowns, and Jaiden Prater, who rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Prater was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 61 yards. Jordan Joseph and his 93 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Lewis' victory.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Lewis' defense and their three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Lamont Thomas.
KIPP College Prep typically have all the answers at home, but two weeks ago SEED proved too difficult a challenge. SEED secured a 18-14 W over KIPP College Prep. The victory was all the more spectacular given SEED's disadvantage in MaxPreps's football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 161st in Maryland, while KIPP College Prep is ranked 18th in District of Columbia).
Lewis is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. As for SEED, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-4.
