The Independence Falcons proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 22) but on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 66-63 victory over Bakersfield. With that win, Independence brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.
Independence was led to victory by DAVIAN LEON and JAMES TANNER. LEON scored 12 points along with five rebounds, while TANNER dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of AAMIR SMITH, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Independence is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Bakersfield, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-17.
Independence will be playing at home against the Wolf Pack at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Jovarie Hayden and AMARIUS "AR" ROWEL. Bakersfield's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Scots at 6:30 p.m. on February 2nd.
