Basketball Game Preview: Classical Academy Caimans vs. Coastal Academy Stingrays

The Classical Academy Caimans will venture away from home to face off against the Coastal Academy Stingrays at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Classical Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Classical Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Escondido Adventist Academy 80-25 on Tuesday. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 55-18.

Classical Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nathan French, who went 6 for 15 on his way to 14 points along with six steals and five assists. Those six steals gave French a new career-high. Lucas Chapman was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten boards.

French wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Classical Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Coastal Academy suffered their biggest loss since December 6, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 53-33 to Pacific Ridge. The Stingrays' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Classical Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Coastal Academy, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-10.

Classical Academy came up short against Coastal Academy in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 44-36. Can Classical Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
