Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Wheeler's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Montville, Wheeler was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Parish Hill Pirates with a sharp 24-14 win. Considering the Lions have won ten matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Victoria Kleeman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Wheeler got a massive performance out of Morgyn Perkins, who went 4-for-6 with one home run, six runs, and three RBI. The dominant performance also gave Perkins a new career-high in doubles (two). Shay Deary was another key player, going 5-for-6 with four runs, five RBI, and one double.

Wheeler was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .468. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Wheeler is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Parish Hill, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheeler will face off against Griswold at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Parish Hill, they will take on Academy of Science and Innovation at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pirates are facing the Ravens at the right time seeing as the Ravens are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
