Northeastern recap October 22, 2013
Marquette added to the longest winning streak in Northeastern this week by beating Luther North, 47-14. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Marquette led the league in scoring this week after putting up 47 points on the Wildcats.
Westminster Christian's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Max Tucker threw for 241 and 2 touchdowns and Scotty Graziano had 149 yards receiving. On the ground DeShawn Bloom chipped in 95 yards. Bloom helped Westminster Christian's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 91 yards.
He went 15-29 with 1 interception.
Bloom was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 95 yards on 10 carries as the Warriors defeated Christian Liberty Academy.
Leading Northeastern in both passing and receiving yards, Westminster Christian's Tucker and Graziano have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-0 quarterback Tucker has thrown for 1,334 yards this season, while Graziano has 37 catches for 647 yards. Mike Mercado from Hiawatha leads the league in rushing with 384 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Alden-Hebron/Faith Lutheran takes on Tom Jobst's team. The Green Giants are in fourth place, while the Crusaders are in first place.
