There's no place like home for Mooresville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Statesville Greyhounds with a sharp 17-1 win on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Greyhounds: they've now won eight in a row.

Southern Smith-Tilley was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Smith-Tilley was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Mooresville let Gavin Barber and Cole Harvey run wild. Barber scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Harvey scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave Harvey a new career-high. Connor Robertson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Mooresville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Statesville only posted an OBP of .300.

Mooresville now has a winning record of 2-1.

Mooresville didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-1 win against Mallard Creek on the 4th. As for Statesville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 7-3 victory against West Caldwell on the 5th.
