Highland is a perfect 10-0 against Eastside since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Highland Bulldogs will host the Eastside Lions at 3:15 p.m. Highland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Highland took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Littlerock with a sharp 12-2 victory. The Bulldogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Evalina Chavez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Arianna Young was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Highland hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Eastside challenged San Luis Obispo on Saturday. Eastside fell just short of San Luis Obispo by a score of 6-5. The loss put an end to the Lions' undefeated start to the season.
Hermoine Jimenez was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Bethanie Jimenez, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Highland has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, Eastside fell to 5-1-1.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Highland has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .453. However, it's not like Eastside struggles in that department as they've averaged .547. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Highland's way against Eastside in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Highland made off with a 21-5 win. Will Highland repeat their success, or does Eastside have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
