The Westside Seminoles can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They snuck past Northeast with a 52-46 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Westside also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Taylor Frazier, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. Frazier continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Taylor Talton, who scored 20 points.
Despite the defeat, Northeast saw an underclassman step up: Jada Smith scored 27 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season.
Even though they lost, Northeast smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westside only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Westside's win bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Northeast, they have fallen quite a ways from their 18-9 record last season and are now at 6-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westside will take on Perry at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Northeast, they will be playing at home against Rutland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rutland comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
