Rancho Bernardo scored the most points they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 74-67 to the Murrieta Mesa Rams. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (64), the Broncos still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Rancho Bernardo saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tyler Johnson shot 57% from the field on his way to 22 points and seven rebounds. Johnson is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in each of the last five games he's played. Blake Jordan was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Rancho Bernardo's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Murrieta Mesa, their win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-1.

Rancho Bernardo didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 65-54 loss against La Costa Canyon on the 10th. As for Murrieta Mesa, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-48 defeat against Mira Mesa on the 10th.
