James River has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Radford Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though James River has not done well against the Cavaliers recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. James River came out on top against the Cavaliers by a score of 47-34. The win was all the more spectacular given James River's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 191st, while the Cavaliers are ranked 14th).
It was another big night for Caitlin Canada, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 16 or more in the last four games she's played. Honesty Liming was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Radford had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They escaped with a win on Wednesday against Glenvar by the margin of a single free throw, 37-36. The win was just what Radford needed coming off of a 60-24 loss in their prior matchup.
James River pushed their record up to 10-9 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Radford, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-11.
Everything came up roses for James River against the Bobcats when the teams last played on Friday as the squad secured a 60-30 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for James River since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
