The Buffalo Grove Bison will head out to square off against the Conant Cougars at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Conant took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Buffalo Grove, who comes in off a win.
Buffalo Grove took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over Elk Grove.

Drew Carrison made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Brady Horvath tossed a big game, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
Carrison wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cole Diaz, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Conant was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 15-1 to Barrington. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Buffalo Grove's record is now 8-21-2. As for Conant, their loss dropped their record down to 12-17-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Buffalo Grove has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Conant struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Buffalo Grove came up short against Conant in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 5-0. Can the Bison avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
