In this week's power rankings, we saw one team go soaring up and another team come crashing down, along with everything in between. We'll dive into that and more in this week's report.
No Stoppin 'Em
Newman was the better team in every quarter against Thomas Jefferson last week and consequently the better team overall. Newman put the hurt on Thomas Jefferson with a conclusive 68 - 7 victory. The MaxPreps rankings were spot on as they projected Newman as the clear winner. The combined 75 points was the most of any game featuring a power-ranked team.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between St. Augustine and De La Salle, 6th and 9th in the power rankings, respectively. St. Augustine enjoyed a cozy 38 - 20 win over De La Salle. The victory boosted St. Augustine a satisfying four spots in the power rankings.

The dubious honor of 'biggest faller' in the power rankings this week goes to St. Paul's, who dropped down six spots after its game against Jesuit. St. Paul's came up short against Jesuit, falling 34 - 24. The team got a solid performance out of senior Jack Mashburn (he finished up with 202 yards passing and two rushing touchdowns); unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the win.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between John Ehret (5th in the power rankings) and Destrehan (4th). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Only one team will win this week, so we'll see which team fails to repeat its success.
