It was a good run, but the Versailles Tigers unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 87-78 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eugene. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (72), Versailles still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Versailles still got an impressive performance from Ryder Williams, who scored 36 points along with seven rebounds. Williams is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Reese Murdock, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Versailles' loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-3. As for Eugene, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Versailles will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against St. Paul Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. St. Paul Lutheran will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 256th, while Versailles is ranked 44th). As for Eugene, they will head out on the road to face off against Linn at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
