The Yough Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Imani Christian Academy Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Yough has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Imani Christian Academy will arrive with four straight victories.
Last Friday, Yough was the victim of a tough 35-14 defeat at the hands of Steel Valley. While losing is never fun, Yough can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 474th, while Steel Valley is ranked 172nd).
Although Yough took the loss, they still got scores from Mikey Nogy and Shane Swope.
Meanwhile, Imani Christian Academy can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They blew past Ligonier Valley 31-0 on the road.
Yough's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.3 points per game. As for Imani Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Yough skirted past Imani Christian Academy 15-12 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Yough since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
