Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Alburnett). They blew past the Monticello Panthers 47-7 on Friday. The Pirates not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since September 27, 2024 (when they won 47-6).

Alburnett has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.3 points on average over those games. As for Monticello, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Coming up, Alburnett will be playing at home against Anamosa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Monticello, they will challenge Tipton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.71 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
