The Rock Canyon Jaguars stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Castle View 47-27. Given Rock Canyon's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Castle View is ranked 98th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rock Canyon's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alyssa Goode, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Sarah Davis, who scored 13 points.
When it comes to explaining why Castle View lost, one person who can't be blamed is Elizabeth Mroz. Despite the final result, she scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzie Tosch, who scored eight points.
The victory was the third in a row for Rock Canyon, bringing their record for this year to 16-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points per game. As for Castle View, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rock Canyon will challenge Heritage at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rock Canyon is facing Heritage at the right time seeing as Heritage is stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Castle View, they will head out on the road to face off against Regis Jesuit at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Regis Jesuit will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Castle View surely won't give up without a fight.
