Salem is 2-8 against Bogue Chitto since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Wildcats will host the Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. Salem is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Salem came up short against West Lincoln on Tuesday, falling 9-1.
Salem saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lincoln Quinn, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bogue Chitto). Everything went their way against Mount Olive on Tuesday as they made off with a 16-6 victory. The win was nothing new for the Bobcats as they're now sitting on five straight.
Alex Roberts looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jayden Poole, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Walker Brady was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Bogue Chitto always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive contests.
Bogue Chitto's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Salem, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Salem has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bogue Chitto struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Salem couldn't quite get it done against Bogue Chitto in their previous matchup back in February of 2025 as they fell 8-4. Will the Wildcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
