Basketball Recap: Pittsburg Drops Highest Score of Season Against Deer Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pittsburg). They blew past the Deer Valley Wolverines 85-33 on Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Pirates who have now won three games in a row.

Leading Pittsburg to victory were Kahlil Bernard and Terrance Wiley. Bernard dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 boards, while Wiley went 8 of 11 on his way to 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. Bernard's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasaan Garcia, who posted eight points and nine boards.

Pittsburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Deer Valley only pulled down four offensive boards.

Pittsburg pushed their record up to 10-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Deer Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season.

Pittsburg wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 57-48 loss against Amador Valley on the 18th. Deer Valley has also already played their next game, a 52-48 win against Ferndale on the 18th.
