Amherst came into Tuesday's   game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by  a  7-1 margin over the Shiocton Chiefs on Tuesday. The  match marked the Falcons' most dominant  victory of the  season.
 Sam Nooyen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks any time she's  pitched this season.
 On the hitting side,  Ivy Boelk was  incredible,  going a perfect 3-for-3 with three  RBI, one  run,  and one  double. The team also got some help courtesy of  Aubrey Chandler, who  went 4-for-5 with one  run and one  RBI.
Amherst's  win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 6-6. As for Shiocton,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 1-4.
 We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Amherst will  challenge  rival Wittenberg-Birnamwood  at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Meanwhile, Shiocton is set to  take on  their familiar foe Manawa  at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday.
